So spring break is coming up super quick and currently the thought of strutting around on the beach in a bikini is not happening. So, in anticipation of my trip to the beautiful Bahamas in February I thought I would get a head start on New Years resolutions and get my butt to the gym early.
I am going to do weekly posts in hopes that it will motivate me to keep working out, so that I actually have something to say and this will hopefully inspire others to join in and get healthy!
Since I am starting from couch potato status I am starting slow and working my way up. So far this week I have worked out at home and play some golf (I know you might think that it is not a workout but it does help with toning many muscles).
Here is how week #1 has played out:
- morning of 9 holes of golf
- 30 minutes on the elliptical (fat burn program)
- 15-20 minutes of mat work (this mainly includes sit-ups, plank, squats and some weight lifting. For weights I use 8 pounds and will gradually work my way up to 10 pounds).
For week one, I got in two rounds of golf and two home workouts, not to bad considering Christmas was smack in the middle of the week!
As for diet I have completely cut out alcohol as my first step. I am still on holidays so I am still going to be indulging in some not so healthy foods, but drinking is something that really adds up, and equals hips and thighs galore!
Wish me luck spring break is only 8 weeks away in counting!
