Last week I helped out for the second year with the Start2Finish Golf Tournament. When I was younger I was very active in the volunteer world, however as I graduated from university and became busy with work I found I made less and less time for volunteering. Its something that all of us should do more of, every time counts.
Start2Finish helps to provide support and scholarships for children who are living at or below the poverty line. It is scary to think of how high this number is in Canada, how is that even possible. When you think of Canada you typically think of prosperity and opportunity. Unfortunately, this is not the case for everyone. As Canadian’s we are so used to looking outside of our ‘amazing’ country to help those in need, and we often forget that there are still some serious social and economic issues right in our own backyards.
This fundraising event included a day of golf, raffles, 50/50 draws and a silent auction, which raised more that $20,000 for those in need. It was a great day, SUPER HOT, but was overall a fun day out on the course. I didn’t take too many picture, but caught one or two when I was waiting for the next foursome to come by. Enjoy!
Oh did I forget to mention, we all got inside just before the rain really started coming down, then we lost power for a good hour, but heck we all had food in our belly’s so everyone was still having a good time!!
