I might have to slow down my reading before it takes over my life!! I have been tearing through books like its my job! I just finished reading Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes. I typically read lighthearted books, but this was not that kind of book.
It follows a young woman in both present day and about 3 years in the past. It follows her turbulent relationship with a too good to be true boyfriend and the troubles it brings to her. I have not read a book quite like this before. The present day and flash back ‘chapters’ were fairly short, but worked so well with each other. Consequences of the past affecting her current behaviour. At the begining of each flash back you are waiting for the inevitable, but it doesn’t come right away.
This book was written so well. I would stay up late at night reading, then wishing I hadn’t as I turned off the lights to sleep. If you can handle a book with very dark and horrible undertones, this is the book for you. This book will take you on a frighting journey through the mind of an abused women and how she copes and attmepts to move forward. Believe it or not this was Haynes’ debut book. I will be sure to look for her again on my next book hunt!
My rating 4.5/5
Btw…its not that I am going easy with my ratings, I have just honestly read some great books in the last few weeks…if I read a crappy one you will be sure to know!!!
