One of the main reasons for moving was to shorten our commutes. D’s is a bit better, but mine has gone from a 45-60 minute drive, down to 10 minutes woohoo! I live a mere 5km from work, not too shabby. So part of my “we don’t have a second car yet/get healthy plan” was to a)bike to and from work, b) carpool c) jog. Seeing as I don’t yet own a bike (just another expense really!) I am doing a combo of b and c.
I have been carpooling for a week and a half and today I finally said I am going to pack my running clothes and jog home, 45 minutes later I made it! Not too shabby for my first go, considering I have been out of the running game for a bit I was pretty impressed with myself. The nice part is no matter if you are jogging or walking you will have 5km under your belt, which is way better than the 10 steps it takes me to get from a car to my front door!
So day 1, so far so good! I can already feel my legs getting sore, but that means 5km was perfect! I am hoping to do this 2-3 days a week if I can. Today there was a lot of walking, but I know that will improve in time. I mean I have done a few half marathons… I have done it before, I know I can eventually run the whole 5km!
Anyway, I am excited about my new little fitness adventure, hopefully it will pay off and help me tone up and lose a few pounds and hey no excuses if you have to do your workout to get home right?
