Lately I have been missing the Kitchener-Waterloo Region. I was born there and moved back for a few years as an adult. One of my favourite places to go since I was a kid was the St. Jacobs Farmers Market. Since moving north of Toronto, I have not had a good year round market to visit. Quite frankly, other than going to my house and to work, I haven’t done too much exploring of the neighbourhood. This weekend however I researched some markets and found a small one only a few minutes from my house.
The Village Market is an organic market, but the best part is it is indoors, so it is year round. I figured I would check it out. It was small, but had a good variety of farmers, organic meats and cheeses, fresh baked goods and a few craft vendors. $45 later, I have enough fruit and veggies for the week, plus some organic turkey sausage for D and I couldn’t resist the fresh imported olives from Greece. Not too shabby!
It is no St. Jacobs, but I think I will be making a habit of visiting this local market for my organic fix!
