Dear Baby – A weekly journal to my son.
When I first found out I was pregnant I decided to write a mini journal. I knew over the course of 9 months I would forget what day/week certain milestones happened. At first this was just a little online journal for my reference, but then I figure hey – why not share with everyone. Bennett, you might read this one day and learn just how excited we were to meet you!!

I took a test this morning and found out I was pregnant. I wasn’t expecting that so soon… I suppose it only takes one time for some women. I am currently 3 weeks (or so) pregnant and wouldn’t have known it yet without the test. I am so excited, but it has not set in yet that this is for real yet. Give me a few more weeks and I am sure the symptoms will convince me.

I went for a test at the doctors this week. Just waiting patiently to hear back. I am starting to have a really hard time keeping this secret in. We plan on tell the family (grandparents and aunts/uncles) next weekend… I still can’t believe it.
Friday, February 13, 2015 (6 weeks)
I finally heard back from the doctors and it is official! I am nice and healthy (you are very welcome!) so all we do is keep up the healthy eating and exercise. D & I are figuring out creative ways to tell the grandparents…still working on it.

The family knows! Everyone is so excited. Papa Wood calls me everyday… just to check in and offer up names for the list. You also have some pretty excited aunts and uncles. I am still feeling great and I have manged to make it to the gym a few times this week, you do make me very sleepy though. I see daytime naps in my future.
Monday, March 2, 2015 (9 weeks)
Today I went for my first ever ultrasound! I got to see the little jellybean sized you! The doctor confirmed that I was 9 weeks and now that I have proof that you are in there, I am even more excited! I can’t wait to share the news with everyone! Only a few more weeks!
Monday, March 16, 2015 (11 weeks)
Last week you went to England. Yup that is right! You were awesome, we weren’t sick or anything. I have also decided that you really enjoy fish and chips and a good ginger beer. I am fully blaming you for my fish-eating. You know, I am a vegetarian right??
Thursday, April 16, 2015 (15 weeks)
You are slowly starting to appear! I finally admitted that I have the most petit bump happening on my belly. You also continue to make being a vegetarian very tough right now… I see you are a fan of tuna… I think I can forgive you, nut don’t expect a big steak any time soon though! Only a few more weeks until my next ultrasound and we get to really see you!!
Wednesday, April 22, 2015 (16 weeks)
Yesterday I heard your heart beat at my midwife appointment!! It was pretty crazy and I was not excepting it (you know this is all new for me right?!). D and I were super excited about it and it is all starting to feel very real! I also told work about you today… so the word is out!
Monday, May 11, 2015 (19 weeks)
D and I saw you for the first time today! You were being a little stubborn during your ultrasound, but that’s okay, it just means I get to see you again next week. This is all starting to feel very real! I have yet to feel you kick, so of course I was sitting here wondering if you were in fact still in there! OH you are and you are currently about 5 inches long. Kind of a crazy thought! Almost half way there!
Monday, May 25, 2015 (21 weeks)
Last week I had a second ultrasound so we could get a better picture of your spine! You cooperated…thanks!! Also found out that you were most likely a boy (they don’t want to say for sure just in case!) D and I are super excited and already have the perfect name picked for you. I think it will suit you well, but I will know for sure when I see you. Past the half way mark. October will be here in a flash!
Tuesday, June 9, 2015 (23 weeks)
Finally! I thought I was never going to feel you kick, some people said you can feel the baby as early as 16 weeks, not me. I blame my rock hard abs, but that is just a theory. It is a little disruptive when you go on a kicking fest, but it is also pretty cool to know that you are in there and SUPER active!
Monday, July 6, 2015 (27 weeks)
No real big changes lately, you are moving around lots and people love to ask me how I am feeling and how the baby is doing constantly. All morning you were poking me with your foot/hand, thanks for that baby. One more week then we are officially in the third trimester (um INSANE!). See you soon baby!
Wednesday, July 22, 2015 (29 weeks)
You have been kicking up a storm lately in there. Not to mention jabbing me endlessly with god knows what! I started painting your room last weekend and picked out a bunch of items for the nursery! D and I are going to baby prep classes this weekend. We are starting to be ready for you to arrive!!
Wednesday, August 5, 2015 (31 weeks)
As I took the dog for a quick walk this morning, everything was starting to get real for me. I cannot believe that we are only 9 (or so) weeks away from walking Lucy together. Up until this point everything has been pretty surreal. Your arrival has seemed like a lifetime away. So far that I couldn’t quite picture life with you here. It is starting to get real. I am trying my best not to panic!
Tuesday, August 25, 3015 (34 weeks)
It is almost time! You are moving around like crazy and have officially grown large enough to kick me in the ribs. You are starting to lose space in there, almost time for eviction. I FINALLY finished painting your bedroom and I am just waiting on furniture to arrive. My bag for the hospital is packed and I think I have just about everything for your bag (just need to pack it up). Daddy is starting to ask me daily if everything is ready and if I have certain items checked off our list, I think it is finally sinking in that you are arriving soon for him!
My hands and feet are super swollen, doesn’t help that we went through a heat wave last week. My back hurts when I lay down and you always choose to kick and punch up a storm the moment I lay down to go to bed. Counting down the days baby!
Wednesday, September 2, 2015 (35 weeks)
On Sunday we had a party for you! Man on man your family and extend family (all of my besties) REALLY LOVE YOU! We were both spoiled and I am feeling like I have pretty much all I need for your arrival! Your crib is arriving on Friday, so I can get your room all set up! You are one lucky baby – first on both sides, try to not let it all go to your head!
Thursday, September 17, 2015 (37 weeks)
You are full term this week! That is a nice way of me saying okay buddy TIME TO GET OUT! D and I are all ready for you and he pokes my belly everyday and tells you “time to come out!” We both can’t wait, but we know you really want to be an October baby so we will give it a few more weeks if we have to!
Sunday, September 27, 2015 (38 weeks)
Things are starting to happen. I was having mild contractions all night, but I sill managed to get a decent sleep in. We are just playing the waiting game now, seeing if contractions get stronger and closer together! We might be seeing you a little earlier than expected.

Not going to lie, I was so not expecting your arrival when I started off this weekend! You joined us at 11:18pm on Sunday, September 27! You were quite the effort to get out, but thanks for taking it relatively easy on me, only 4 hours of active labour. I think that might have been a first time mom world record. Can’t wait to get you home.
