The biggest reason people slip from reaching there goals. As some one who had a bad knee for many years, I know this all to well. You finally get a good routine going, then boom your knee flares up and throws you off for a week.
This time around my injury is a little more long term. Earlier this month I broke my wrist. I won’t be needing surgery, but I am going to be in a cast for 6-8 weeks and then doing some pretty aggressive physio so I can get back to my routine.
That being said my workouts can’t stop. I won’t be lifting for a while, but I am doing what I can to keep a workout routine going. Once my arm started feeling a bit better I tried out long walks/jogs. This has been my savour, being able to get my heart rate up with some cardio has made me feel a lot better.
Here is a what I have been up to:
- 2-3 mile jog/walks
- Air squats
- Sit ups
- Sumo squats with a kettle bell
- Dumbbell or kettle bell cleans, clean and jerks, press
- Static hold with kettle bell
- One arm deadlift with kettle bell
I am not overly worried about lifting some weights with one arm since I am using my left and I am right arm dominant, I think they will even out pretty quick once my arm heals (or maybe be equal for once!). There are lots of movements to do with one arm. My goal is to just keep moving and keep some form of routine. I even managed to do a 5km mud/obstacle race with my cast.
As long as you are safe you don’t need to sacrifice your goals. Keep at it!!
Until next time day dreamers.
