Sigh, I think I have almost recovered from this weekend so I can finally catch up on my blog posts! Not only did D and I host a Movember party (more to come on this later) I also did my Wedding Planners Certification this past weekend. As many of you know I graduated in May from College where I did my post-grad in Event Management.
I began working in the events world in May and I love it, but I haven’t quite reached my goal. Currently I am doing institutional events at a Canadian University, but it is not my passion. The experience from every event I do here is amazing, but I am really itching to be more creative and expand my skill set. My future plans are to a) start my own wedding/special events business b) get D to build me an event venue and for me to run weddings and events from it or c) work for an event venue or wedding planning company. (I am really hoping to start with a and then maybe transition to b!) Oh having goals and ambitions are great!
However to reach any of my goals for me step one is education. I became educated in events and now I am learning through experience. I have now been educated in wedding coordination, my next step is getting out there an learning! I will hopefully have some opportunities through the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada [check them out here WPIC] after I write and *fingers crossed* pass my exam, but thanks to my girlfriend P, I will be getting some great planning experience through helping her out through the entire wedding process!
I am so excited for this new adventure, even if it brings lots of sleepless evenings and over time hours. If you are happy doing it, it is so worth it!
